Garb Workdays!
Don't have a thing to wear? Come and work on your garb and garb-related
projects in the Eastern Michigan University costume shop! This is not a
structured class but instead an opportunity to work on those projects
you've been putting off finishing or haven't started yet. Cutting
tables, sewing machines, sergers, industrial iron, and advice will be
provided. Also welcome is anyone wishing to work on other
fabric projects like regalia or padded fighting jacks or fencing
doublets (the shop has industrial sewing machines that can sew through all those layers).
Upcoming Garb Workday sessions include:
Saturday, May 17, 10am-6pm
Saturday, June 7, 10am-6pm
Saturday, July 5, 10am-6pm
Saturday, August 23, 10am-6pm
Please bring your own materials and notions.
If you're planning on coming and would like patterning help, please
bring your research or contact Mistress Melisant Saint-Clair in advance at
melanie.AT.faucet.DOT.net so she
can bring relevant resources.
Directions:
From the west via Washtenaw Ave--go east on Washtenaw until you pass
the water tower in Ypsilanti. At the light at Huron, turn left. Stay
in the left lane until it becomes the left-turn-only lane and turn left
on Jarvis. Continue straight through the light at Lowell.
From I-94--follow 94 to the Huron St. exit in Ypsilanti (exit 183). Take
Huron north about a mile. Once you pass the light at Cross, get into
the left-hand lane until it becomes the left-turn-only lane and turn
left on Jarvis. Continue straight through the light at Lowell.
Park in the lot on your right (Ford Lot). Across the street is the
Quirk Building.
Enter at the front door, come through the front lobby
and turn left in the hallway. Follow the hallway through two sets of
double doors, then straight to a set of stairs. At the bottom of the
stairs, go right into the hall and then follow it around to the left to
find the Costume Shop.
